Thanks to John Boxall for alreting me to this story on the BBC web-site. It's about a Scottish family trying to live on ony food produced in Fife. You can find it at

I love the USA notion of 'locavores' - people whose diet consists of local produce - but it is such an ugly word, don't you think?
So how's about Froomivores? I am assuming we can then adopt something like the Farmers' Market definition of '35 miles around Frome'.
Will be pleased to hear other people's ideas about this.

Froomivores
Lets go for it!
What I think that we need to do though is start with a database of suppliers, one of the difficulties is knowing what to get & where to get it from.
Burcott Mill at Wookey for example grinds flour from English wheat, and both Frome Wholefoods & Sagebury Cheese stock it as well as other local items. Cayfords stock mostly local meat, eggs & cheese. And, of cource there is Chris & Cordelia's holding at Vallis..............
Froomivores
.... so, des and Stina have been attempting a near Froomivore diet for Lent. I took salad leaves from my garden with a local (orang) goat cheese drssing to their party the other night... first time `i have managed copius salad leaves all"winter".
